Parking in Florence near a ZTL? Choose Garage Mediterraneo, a few meters from the city’s restricted traffic area.
The ZTL of Florence is made up of five sectors: A, B, O, F and G.
Sector A is the heart of the historic center and also includes the area of the Central Market of San Lorenzo up to Piazza dell’Unità and Piazza Santa Maria Novella.
Sector B corresponds to the internal area of the perimeter which ideally unites Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Piazza Piave and Piazza della Libertà, passing through Piazza Beccaria and Piazzale Donatello, Viale Lavagnini, Viale Strozzi and Viale Fratelli Rosselli (all avenues and perimeter squares and all roads included in sector A remain excluded from the ZTL sectors B). Sector B does not include any roads in the restricted traffic area on the left bank of the Arno.
Sector O includes the streets of the Oltrarno inside the area delimited by the perimeter between via Sant’Onofrio, piazza della Calza and piazza dei Mozzi.
Sector F corresponds to the area from San Niccolò to Viale dei Colli (starting from Piazza Ferrucci).
Sector G concerns the area between Piazza Piave and Piazza Cavalleggeri.
It is advisable to view the ZTL map to have a more precise view of the sectors.
Timetable of the restricted traffic area in Florence
The ZTL, in sectors A, B and O, is active all year round, on weekdays, with the following times: from Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 8.00 pm and on Saturday from 7.30 am to 4.00pm.
From the first Thursday of April to the first Sunday of October, the summer night-time restricted traffic zone is active. The ZTL regulation, in this period, is extended to all sectors (A, B, O, F and G) even on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. For the year 2022, the Summer Night Restricted Traffic Area is active from 7 April to 2 November with the following times:
- From 11pm on Thursday to 3am on Friday
- From 11pm on Friday to 3am on Saturday
- From 11pm on Saturday to 3am on Sunday
Accesses to the resricted traffic area in Florence
Those authorized to transit in sector A can access the ZTL without distinction from all gates.
Authorized persons in sector B can only access from the gates in their own sector, therefore all gates on the right bank of the Arno, with the exception of the gates in Piazza dell’Unità, reserved for authorized persons in sector A.
Authorized persons in sector O will only be able to access their sector from the gates on the left bank of the Arno and from the Ponte Vespucci – L.no Vespucci – Ponte alla Carraia – L.no Corsini – Ponte Santa Trinita itinerary.
QuWhen the night-time restricted traffic zone is active, authorized persons in sectors A, B and O can also use the gates in sectors F and G, while authorized persons in sector F can only access from the gates in their own sector and sector G.
Attention: The authorisation to transit and park in the ZTL does not allow access from the gates reserved for public transport or emergency vehicles (reserved lanes) nor circulation in pedestrian areas.
